Summer Body Time

armSpring has finally arrived (and hopefully to stay), which means summer will soon be here. Looking around, people are starting to show more skin as the weather is warming up, but no one wants to see that pasty winter pudge. For many 20-somethings, metabolism has started to slow, and weight increasing as a result. In efforts to combat the usual excuses for not exercising and to help you get in shape for mating season, here’s some info that can kick you back into an exercise program.

For many, getting started isn’t as big an issue as keeping with it until you get where you want to be. Many give up because they aren’t seeing results and lose motivation. An article from BodyResults gives some good benchmarks for when you should expect results in stamina, waist size, and strength. I think knowing what to expect will help you keep on track and not lose hope. Again, as you probably already know, if you don’t put forth the effort and discipline to eat right and exercise, you just won’t see the results you want.

Once you get started, it also helps to keep track of your progress; often the slow change in your body makes you feel like nothing is happening. Using trackers like Gimme20.com can help you keep track of your workout, and also your progress. It not only allows you to track your progress, but offers a resource for building a new workout based on what others are trying. It even has a scheduling feature that will remind you to work out and allow you to print out a workout schedule.

So get to the gym, resist eating the whole pizza, and keep at it. You still have plenty of time till summer!
