Something to keep in mind is that this extends beyond housing. A lot of people compare automotive buying to the housing market, except you don't have quite as many forms. Always look as far into purchasing and financing laws in your respective state as you possibly can - particularly mortgage and leasing laws. You'll find that a lot of states have laws designed to support buyers from being manipulated by banks or lease issuers.

If you're super into getting all the details on your state, give your local lawyer a call. If you're a little less creative, call your bank's financial lender or call your dealership's financial institution. I did. It helped (lots).

Good overview for those not in the know. Although in case anyone hadn't realized, the yacht probably won't be happening unless you don't plan on getting married, buying a house, having kids, or doing anything else that involves a lot of funds. (Which I'm guessing Li accounted for..)

I can completely relate to this and I think about it all the time. I don't think life is about working and I would love to retire at an age where I can enjoy what is left of my time. I just emptied my Roth IRA to buy my first house though because there is an income cap to be able to invest in a Roth, so I can't add any more to it. Soon I'll be looking at opening another account and kicking it off right though, looking forward to hearing more about this.
